In the American West, a pioneer woman, Sarah and six women who are called her daughters, face frontier life.  Rather than straightforward storyline, the musical is presented as a series of short tales and tableaux matched with musical numbers, each presenting an aspect of frontier life or womanhood.  The patches or blocks show "girlhood, marriage, childbirth, spinsterhood, twisters, fire, illness, and death." The patches are ultimately put together to form one dramatic tableau

The Carpenter Auditions February 25th and 26th from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

  • Prepare a 1 to 2  minute monologue of your choosing.
  • Cold readings will be done from the script.

Jeff Masters arrives in a small town to find work as a carpenter.  Though there is no mystery about his arrival -- except  that people are not in the habit of coming to small towns for no reason at all --the townspeople start speculating.  Jeff boards in the home of Sam Farris and his wife Martha.  Then follows an incredible series of events in which Jeff is the prime mover.  He becomes a modern disciple of a Carpenter of an earlier day, practical, non-preachy sense, and finally sacrificing his own life in a vain attempt to rescue a town unfortunate.  Then, Jeff's story becomes known: he had been a highly successful minister in a large city church.  He resigned because he believed that the Christian way must be lived rather than preached.  He had come to town to see if he could live the way Jesus had lived, among the same kind of people.

Grab the furs out of the closet and call up the nanny-- it's time to "Meet the Wives!"  Penny, Lulu, Beezus, Babette, and Joanne are the realest housewives around.  They're entrepreneurs, they're humanitarians, they're super sassy mamas, and they're dying to tell you all their juiciest secrets over a few hefty glasses of pino.  Regrettably, they may have to reschedule, as they're all a little tied up at the moment attending the funeral for dearly departed housewife Poppy Grace Von Vandenberg.  She knew perhaps a few too many of the others' secrets and mysteriously ended her own life as the others began pushing her slowly out of their circly.  While the housewives mourn their loss, we find out that Grace, in her last will and testament, declared that Joanne should be the new head housewife.  Beezus, who might be the eldest housewife, if she ever told anyone her actual age, is no less than outraged.  Joanne stands by Grace's decision since, as Joanne herself must admit, she is "Amazing."
